Christ Our Savior Lutheran Church - LCMS

What Lutherans Believe

The Missouri Synod Lutheran Church teaches that Jesus is the focus of the entire Bible and that faith in Him alone, is the way to eternal salvation. The Church rejects any attempt to attribute salvation to anything other than Christ’s death and resurrection. We believe that justification comes from God “by divine grace alone, through faith alone, on account of Christ alone.”The Missouri Synod Lutheran Church teaches that Jesus is the focus of the entire Bible and that faith in Him alone, is the way to eternal salvation. Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ Jesus,
We certainly are living in uncertain times. Whether it is terrorism, political uncertainty, catastrophic weather events, or unprecedented health concerns, as is the case with COVID-19 (CORONA) Virus, we live in a time that lends itself to fear. However, God tells us:
“Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” (Isaiah 41:10)
And our Lord Jesus Christ Himself tells us:
“I am with you always, to the end of the age.” (Matthew 28:20)
Regardless of what is happening in the world around us, our Lord is with us always, so please don’t give in to fear. However, God has also called us to be good stewards of what He has given us, which not only includes the world around us, but also our health and safety, as well. Therefore, after much prayer and advice from our Synod and District, as well as, the CDC, our local, state and national government officials, the leadership of our congregation has decided to suspend any and all congregational activity for the next two weeks. We will be making a decision before Palm Sunday if our congregational activities can continue or not. During this time I will still be available for home visits to bring you God’s Word, as well as, Communion, although there are some locations where my access may be restricted, such as assisted living facilities.
Please continue to pray for wisdom and guidance for your congregational leaders and please continue to support your church with your financial gifts. Also, please remember to reach out and comfort your fellow brothers and sisters in Christ during this time.
Although this is a struggle we are all going through with the Corona Virus effects everyone, we also have a tremendous opportunity to share the light and love of Christ Jesus to all those around us.
“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”(Romans 15:13)
